Dr. Uppal completed his medical studies at Christian Medical College in Ludhiana, Punjab. He continued his training in the United Kingdom under the late Lord John Walton, Baron of Detchant, past president of the British Medical Association and Royal Society of Medicine (Pictured with Dr. Uppal at the 2005 World Congress of Neurology in Sydney, Australia).
In 1975, Dr. Uppal and his family relocated to the United States where he completed his residency training in internal medicine at Easton Hospital in Pennsylvania.
Since 1978, Dr. Uppal has practiced at Merced Medical Clinic as a partner, and now owner, of the oldest continuing practice in Merced County.
Dr. Uppal is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and is certified in Gastroenterology with a special focus on geriatrics. For almost five decades, Dr. Uppal has served patients of all backgrounds throughout Merced County.
Through his many years of experience he has witnessed many changes in medicine particularly in the area of delivery and technology. In spite of these changes, Dr. Uppal’s relationships with his patients both new and established are as enduring as his commitment to patient-centered community based care.
Dr. Uppal’s patients represent a diverse community, spanning generations from young adults to nursing home residents and he treats conditions ranging from primary and preventive care to state of the art endoscopic techniques and specialized treatments.
